George Machan
Senior Associate Engineer

Mr. Machan has over 36 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and project development management. Projects have been in the Pacific Northwest. Designs have included slide repairs, drainage systems, cut slopes, embankments in mountainous terrain and over compressible floodplains, retaining walls,ground anchor stabilization, foundations, light-weight fills, rock slopes and rockfall protection methods.

He also provided overall project development management for highway improvements along Sunset Highway and Highway 217 in Portland, associated with the fast-tracked Westside Light Rail project. He provided leadership in public involvement and mediation efforts to community impacts and design issues. In addition, he represented ODOT in several legal proceedings and Land Use hearings.
